Michell Computing

Bespoke software, GIS and databases for UK organisations

Welcome

Michell Computing is a software engineering consultancy in the Northwest of England. The practice was established in 1990 and has more than thirty-five years of delivering systems for public bodies and private firms.

The work is practical: desktop tools, spatial systems, and the databases behind them. A good deal of it is now built with open source languages and libraries, including software we have released ourselves.

What we do

Bespoke software

Desktop and field applications written to fit the job, from mapping tools to work-management systems.

Databases

Design, migration and long-term care of SQL systems, large and small, including spatial databases.

Geographic information

Collection, transformation and presentation of spatial data, including national coordinate systems.

Advice and support

Straightforward technical advice on GIS, open source tooling, and how to keep a system running.

Services in more detail…

Procura

A land-inspection suite for the Homes and Communities Agency: field mapping with GPS, office reporting, and a national PostgreSQL store.
